I have been looking and waiting for a “different” device for several months and when the Z3 Compact came out I was anxious for a “test drive”, to say the least. The iPhone 6 was released at a similar time, as was the Galaxy Alpha. The iPhone 6 was exactly how I imagined it would be, an iPhone and at that, I’m afraid, I lost interest. The Alpha had promise but with a poor battery life and, oddly, a lack of MicroSD slot, again, my interest waned quickly upon testing.
I am very pleased to announce though that the alternative, an Orange version of, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, is nothing shy of brilliantly impressive.
The size of the handset, in my opinion, is perfect. Easy to use with one hand and equally, large enough to be a comfortable two hand’er both vertically and horizontally.
The speed of the device, when moving through the plethora of pre-loaded apps, is excellent. The camera is remarkably good and the best, all-rounder, I have ever used on a mobile.
The screen resolution is crystal clear, has many options to customise for different low light levels etc and when streaming HD (such as Netflix/Youtube), it is seriously impressive (4.6 inches compared to iPhone 6 4.7 inches but in a one handed chassis remember!).
The Email, Web browsing, Play store, Kindle App and Office packages are ALL excellent and all work quickly and without error. Switching between as many as 5 or 6 different apps running at the same time is seamless and without lagging due to its impressive on-board processor.
16 GB of internal memory, Waterproof, Dust proof and with a button dedicated to underwater snaps, it has some excellent additions to the “standard” expected of a high end spec handset.
It is advertised and reviewed in many places as mid-range but I believe this MUST be price related, as I would not hesitate in recommending this to both my business and consumer customers as the must have phone of the moment!
Hats off Sony!
